Biography
André Pijet, born in Poland to a family of French and Polish heritage, made Quebec his home in 1988. With a background in fine arts and photography acquired in his native Poland, coupled with his innate drawing talent, Pijet embarked on a career as an illustrator, caricaturist, and cartoonist. His satirical and humorous creations have been published across several countries, including Poland, Greece, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Italy, Turkey, the United States, and Canada.
In Quebec, Pijet gained recognition for a series of cartoons centered around the 1993-94 hockey playoffs, which he contributed to the prominent Montreal daily newspaper “La Presse.” He earned a Bachelor’s degree (BFA) from Concordia University, majoring in Painting & Drawing with a minor in Art History, and later obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Art Education. Pijet is renowned for his book illustrations, graphic art, and art direction. Concurrently, he continually explores and expresses his unique perspective on the contemporary world through painting and drawing.
