SKETCHBOOK 2017

December 3, 2017

The 2017 Sketchbook contains a variety of sketches conceived on different occasions. Some were done during my Drawing Club sessions in my studio, some at the Montreal Fine Arts museum, or in situ on the streets of Montreal. I like to draw fast and keep the drawing rather sketchy than extremely elaborated, but from time to time I love to spend hours and hours working on very elaborated details. To me, the action of drawing is a kind of meditation, and mind relaxing activity. It is during the drawing practice that I travel with my thoughts everywhere, and sometimes during these imaginary voyages I find ideas for my new projects. Drawing fast is to me a kind of competition between my perceptual senses. I try to catch the most perfect proportions and as close as possible realistic contours within the time I impose on myself. To me, it is a very exciting procedure. I try to marry speed with perfection…just for fun.
